About Dr. Teri

Theresa L. Hohl D.C., C.A.C.C.P.

My journey all started back when I was in the sixth grade. That is when I started suffering from daily migraines. I would be stuck in bed for days. Over the years I went to so many doctors, tried so many drugs, and had mouth guards, braces, and TMJ surgery all to try to help with this condition. It wasn’t until I was 21 years old, that I visited a Chiropractor. I mean, why would I go to a Chiropractor? All they do is straighten out your back after an auto accident, right? However, it was my last resort, AND it should have been my first. My life changed. After seeing the Chiropractor for a little while the headaches stopped. It was then that I decided to become a Chiropractor myself, and I  have never regretted it.

Dr. Teri

I have been a chiropractor for over 22 years. I have seen patients of all ages, from several hours old to over 100 years of age! I have helped older patients with vertigo, balance issues,  low back pain, and sciatica. I have helped middle-aged patients with repetitive stress syndrome, headaches, and hormonal issues. I have helped teenagers improve their sports and aided them in their competitions in gymnastics, baseball, hockey, swimming, etc. I have worked with young children with autism, cerebral palsy, and attention deficit syndrome. And I’ve worked with newborns, helping them with colic, breastfeeding, and acid reflux. And, of course, through chiropractic, I have also offered wellness care to all my patients.  After all, it’s about balancing the nervous system.

Why Now Only Babies

But my passion has always been with pregnancy and newborns. I had my son while in chiropractic school 23+ years ago which began another journey. Pregnancy and childbirth opened me up to a whole new world.

At that time I had no idea that I had choices to make about my pregnancy and how I was going to birth my son. I had no idea about prenatal care outside of my OB/GYN. Back then I had never heard of a Doula or a midwife. I didn’t know about such things as placenta encapsulation. A lactation specialist was not in the everyday vocabulary. I was a child of the 70s where the norm was disconnected; my dad dropped my mom off at the hospital, she was put in twilight sleep, and in her words “woke up and had a baby”. She was then given a shot so that her milk never came in. Can you imagine?!

So when I became pregnant, I learned about wonderful sources –  childbirth classes – the Bradley method. I learned about midwives and home birth and not to fear the birth process. After my son was born, I also learned how difficult breastfeeding can be and how postpartum depression can knock you off your new-mother game. I saw how some practitioners and pediatricians could make a new mom feel like a horrible parent. I didn’t have any support groups to turn to….But I learned. In this learning, I was then able to be more aware of the issues and help new families with the care they often needed. To put them in touch with the right people and have the support that I never experienced.

Pregnancy Support

Thru the years I have seen how much chiropractic helps pregnant women. It helps ease their discomfort from being pregnant and relieves sciatic, round ligament, pubic, and low back pain.  It can often help reduce morning sickness and acid reflux that many women get.

Chiropractic helps align the pelvis which can help the baby grow in a more optimal position in utero. This more optimal position can also set the mom up for an easier labor and less painful birth.  After pregnancy, Chiropractic can help get the mom’s pelvis back to help prevent the infamous pregnancy-induced low back pain. It can help with mid back pain that often starts to occur due to now different postural changes from feeding – carrying – and just in general the new life caring for a baby.

Infant Care

For the baby, I have seen Chiropractic help with feeding issues, colic, and acid reflux. It helps with any complications that occurred at birth such as shoulder dystocia and torticollis. It can also help with babies’ discomfort with tummy time or not liking being held in certain positions.

With my 22-plus years of experience, I have seen firsthand how chiropractic can help new families and how giving new families tools and resources that can help them navigate thru this new road their life is now on. It can be a beautiful one. That is why I am now only focusing on bellies and babies. It is why it is my passion. I am here for you.

The Function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character- that is the goal of true education.”  ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.

Dr. Teri Wasn't Just Any Chiropractor

As someone who has gone to a chiropractor for years, I thought I walked into this office knowing what to expect. After my first adjustment, I very quickly realized that Dr. Teri wasn’t just any chiropractor. For years I have gone to chiropractor after chiropractor thinking I was getting relief. I had no idea what true relief was until I walked out of the first adjustment. Chiropractors I have gone to in the past always had me going back for more and more treatments (sometimes multiple times weekly) with very little relief, if any. With Dr. Teri, it was never the same adjustment twice, it seemed she just knew what was needed and how to help. She consistently fixed the problem with the goal of keeping it fixed. I didn’t even have to tell her what was wrong, she just knew and altered her adjustment accordingly. I was so grateful to have her on my care team, especially during my pregnancies. She kept me comfortable (which is hard to do especially in late pregnancy) and helped prepare my body for the best possible birth. She also adjusted our entire family including our two young children and you can consistently see the results in all of them even when they were little babies. Dr. Teri is such a valuable asset to the wellness community. She genuinely cares about her patients and our family will forever be grateful for her care!  ~ H.C.

Pregnancy can be challenging enough

I originally heard of Terri through a client after hurting my back from a fall. I was a personal trainer and avid lifter at the time and needed help. Terri got me back in the gym pain-free in no time.

In 2013 I became pregnant and once again Terri helped me through the ups and downs of pregnancy pains. I didn’t truly know how good I had it till I moved away and continued to have children. Terri’s skill is unmatched and I would come back to FL as often as I could for her help. Pregnancy can be challenging enough, your body getting out of alignment isn’t something a new mom “has” to deal with. Terri truly helped me during and post-pregnancy to get back to the things I loved doing. ~ A.S.

Thoughtful and truly invested in every one of her patients

I have been a patient of Dr. Teri for over 15 years. I initially went to Dr. Teri for help when I was pregnant. I was determined to have my child without a c-section, and she was breech. With the help of Dr. Teri and my OB/GYN, I was able to deliver my daughter, not breech, without a c-section. I continued as a patient of Dr. Teris after I delivered because of the care that she provides. She is extremely thoughtful and is truly invested in every one of her patients. I have recommended her to many people including both my parents and took my daughter to her as well. She is very knowledgeable in many facets of chiropractic care. She has helped me, and my family, overcome main pain points from hip, knee, growing pains, TMJ issues, and the list goes on. She provides at-home exercises in addition to office care that helps in-between visits. She is thorough, considerate, and very compassionate about her work. I would recommend her over and over. She would be an amazing asset to any organization. ~ S.J.
